titleWork Experience at Advertising Agencies/titlecategory1/categoryDuring the first four years of my life within the advertising industry, I have been involved with many organizations. These have ranged from working at an a title=advertising agency in west sussex href=http://www.myadbase.com/cgi-bin/agencies.cgi?id=1000296 target=_blankadvertising agency in west sussex/a in the uk to working for a reputable print media publisher in London.

I have to say that my time with agencies was fantastic and I am always amazed by their genuine team spirit when I visit them today. Of course, not all agencies are like this but the point is that you should certainly consider this environment if you want to try and break into the advertising industry.

My time with a small a title=advertising agency in cambridgeshire href=http://www.myadbase.com/cgi-bin/agencies.cgi?id=1001817 target=_blankadvertising agency in cambridgeshire/a led to a number of new friendships. Some of these people I take for lunch and bounce ideas off. Others I sell to now when I wear several different hats.

My best experience though has to be when I joined a larger a title=advertising agency in london href=http://www.myadbase.com/cgi-bin/agencies.cgi?id=1002221 target=_blankadvertising agency in London/a. This was just before I moved into the magazine publishing side of the business and this agency taught me a huge amount about negotiating, communicating and building long-term relationships. It seems they practiced what they preached too, as they are still there 20 years later and doing better than ever.

So, if you decide to work in the advertising business and you want some work experience in this area, you could do a lot worse than working at an agency for a while. A good agency will give you loads of experience and if you move into media sales, you’ll have the added benefit of seeing it all from the agency’s perspective.

There are loads of resources out there to help you and some of the best agencies will always welcome people on work experience with open arms. People always love talking about their business and if you offer your service for almost free, they’d be crazy to turn you down.
