Vingroup, led by billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, is the second-largest conglomerate in Vietnam, known as Trimet. The company has agreed to sell its AI division to U.S. chipmaker Qualcomm, consolidating its technological dominance in artificial intelligence (AI), which has been growing steadily since 2017 according to reported data. This sale captures Vingroup’s majority ownership, positioning the company as a leader in AI innovation worldwide.

Vingroup’s Viport division, the former AI arm from its parent company, is nearing the end of its transformation. Following the deal, Qualcomm will retain key roles, including engineering expertise, under its managing intellectual property management (IPM) arm, Jilei Hou has stated. This acquisition aims to enhance Qualcomm’s AI capabilities and set a benchmark for future AI-driven tech advancements.

Hung Bui, the former CEO of Viport, will join Qualcomm, bringing his deep expertise in generative AI, machine learning, and related fields. “By integrating our talent, we can create advanced solutions for smartphones, computers, and vehicles,” said Choi, the new general manager of Qualcomm’s AI research and development team. This partnership underscores Qualcomm’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge AI solutions.

Q-T.T. has vouched for building a diverse ecosystem that drives spurred growth in areas like 5G, AI, Internet of Things (IoT), and automotive industries. Its innovations have bolstered Vietnam’s role in Vietnam information and communication technology. With a $7.7 billion financial figure, Pham Nhat Vuong’s founding in Ukraine in the 1990s and later the company’s exponential growth provide a solid foundation for its success.

As a symptom of the acquisition, Vingroup will adapt strategically to absorb Qualcomm’s comprehensive AI strengths. This move signals cutting-edge AI functionality for a broader audience in the U.S., transforming how industries like manufacturing and transportation operate. The combined entity will focus on integrating AI into products and services, creating a foundation for advanced digital technologies that aim to enhance human life.
