It has become normal to begin discussing the next model right after one is released. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are still fresh and getting a grip on the market, but the people are already intrigued about what the Samsung Galaxy S9 will feature and come packed with.
According to latest reports and rumors, the biggest news could be that the Samsung Galaxy S9 may not be coming with the same Face ID technology that the Apple iPhone X has.
This may come as a relief to many, but also could be a source of grief for others as it is a feature which has received the most mixed reviews thus far. Not everyone is sold on the Face ID being completely secure and still believe that fingerprint locking, and pin codes are much safer.
Whatever the situation might be, the Samsung Galaxy series already has a face identification system of its own, but it is not as accurate nor secure as Apple’s Face ID. The reason for this is that Apple Face ID uses 3D depth mapping to detect and recognize your face by shooting out thousands of red dots to create a virtual map of all your features.
This feature could be saved to use on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, in order to differentiate it from the Samsung Galaxy S9 series.

What Are Some of the Other Features Rumored About Samsung Galaxy S9?
While everything is still a part of the rumor mill, here are some of the more widespread ones which may just make it to the final cut:
Display sizes of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ will most likely be the same as the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ (5.8-inch and 6.2 inches)
More development is reportedly going into the camera technology of the next generation of Samsung Galaxy S series smartphones.
This development may result in pricier phones compared to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+
Some sources are quoting Samsung as gearing up to integrate “3-stack layer image sensor”. This sort of technology would be shooting over 1,000 images per second and we have no idea what a regular user would be doing with such a capacity.
Samsung fanatics on the other side are hoping that the Samsung Galaxy S9 will come with a 256GB option like the Apple iPhone series has beginning with the iPhone 7. All of Apple’s latest smartphones are also now coming with a 256GB option, which has proven to be more than enough storage for even the most advanced of users. Especially since people are not as fond of using external storage as smartphone manufacturers may have thought.
When Will Samsung Reveal the Galaxy S9?
As soon as February of 2018 at the annual Mobile World Congress show. Samsung could give us a glimpse into the next Galaxy S series at the next MWC, which is scheduled to return to Barcelona in Spain between February 26 – March 1, 2018.
The announcement may come as early as February of 2018, but the smartphone is not expected to be available before August or September of the same year.
