The feature popular to WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger is now on Instagram as well. In their latest update, Instagram has integrated the feature to allow your followers or people you have directly messaged in the past to view your last seen details.
Not everyone is fond of allowing others to see how long ago they were active or if they currently are active on the platform. Which is why you do have the option to turn it off.
Good thing is that no body will be able to see your last seen activity on Instagram through your profile. The only way to see how long ago you were active on Instagram can only be done in the direct messages section. The ability to turn of your activity status and avoid the last seen details of your presence on Instagram isn’t available in Facebook Messenger yet.
WhatsApp also gives you the ability to hide such details. You cannot see the last seen details of other users as well if that option has been disabled. Same goes for when you turn this feature off on Instagram.
Here’s what it says:
“Allow accounts you follow and anyone you message to see when you were last active on Instagram apps. When this is turned off, you won’t be able to see the activity status of other accounts.”
How to Turn off Last Seen on Instagram
Thankfully, Instagram has kept this process pretty simple. All you have to do is head into the settings of your profile and scroll down a little bit until you see “Show Activity Status”.
Toggle it off and you will now have disabled the option to let people see your last seen details on Instagram.
But, there is one thing you cannot turn off at the moment. That is read receipts once you have read someone’s message. While this may be beneficial to you, it may not always the same case when you are the one checking messages. Instagram does not allow you to disable this like you can in WhatsApp and we will just have to wait till a future update addresses this. If that ever happens.
Now you don’t have to worry about the world knowing about your Instagram addiction. We know that you are constantly checking your Instagram feed and seeing what other people are up to. But you don’t want everyone else to know that. Thank God for the good people at Instagram who decided to include this last seen toggle, right?
