This year was a great one for smartphones. We saw the 10th generation Apple iPhone and the comeback of Samsung after a catastrophic 2016 with the Galaxy Note 7 blowing up to pieces everywhere. Despite the highs and lows, smartphone manufacturers like Apple, Samsung, HTC, LG and Google are ready to set the stage with several flagship devices highly anticipated to be coming out in 2018. The smartphones of 2018 seem to be great on paper for now, so let’s go ahead and discuss which ones we’re most excited about.
No matter how much you think that this year’s smartphone is going to last you forever, the smartphones of 2018 will having you wanting an upgrade. Every year, smartphone companies release newer and improved technology, which seemed near to impossible just a few months back.
Not only does the technology improve every year, the price seems to be also increasing quite steadily. Apple had the biggest jump in price with the iPhone X. They managed to release a smaller budget iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, but took the top spot in the price category with the iPhone X which crossed over the $1000 line.
At the moment, it isn’t for sure if other companies will follow suit. But Samsung didn’t keep their smartphones cheap either. Google also jumped up with he new Pixel 2 and Pixel Xl, so the smartphones of 2018 could have fans reaching deeper into their pockets than ever before.

1. Apple iPhone 9, iPhone 9 Plus and iPhone XI
There isn’t much certainty in regards to Apple keeping the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus lineup going into 2018 or just focusing on carrying forward the iPhone X.
We could be seeing two more models coming out like 2017 in the form of an Apple iPhone 9 and 9 Plus and an Apple XI.
What is for sure is that Apple will probably continue fully with the Face ID on all their future smartphones. It has been declared by Apple that the iPhone X has laid down the foundation for the next 10 years of their smartphones and 2018 could be just be a taste into the future. What else is for certain is that the headphone jack is never coming back and most people have gotten over it. If you need to plugin your headphones, just make sure you have a couple of dongles on hand. Or you could always go for a Samsung smartphone.
The next generation of iPhones in 2018 should be expected to launch sometime in October of next year. Speculations will peak around Summer of 2018 for Apple smartphones.

2. Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus have been amazing devices. The all screen, bezel free design has made Samsung a leader in the industry and given them a major comeback from the 2016 massacre of the Note 7.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are looked forward to as a new generation for Samsung. We’re not even sure if Samsung is going to call them that or just move on to the 10th generation versions, just like Apple did.
It is quite certain that the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets will be used while focusing on the Infinity Display and more of the Augmented Reality aspect of smartphones. Samsung smartphones of 2018 definitely has us excited.
Samsung could be launching the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus as soon as March 2018.
3. Samsung Galaxy Note 9
All we hope for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is that it doesn’t incorporate any technology which could cause a blast. The Samsung Note 8 was a great comeback device and Samsung should just move on improving from there. There isn’t any need to put in stuff which could be hazardous to its users. Instead, the Note series needs to focus on being a well-rounded, professionally capable device for the masses.
We expect Samsung to enhance capabilities of the S Pen, Camera and Multitasking features of the Note series with 2018’s Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Who knows, we might just see a Note 10 altogether.
Smartphone fanatics could witness the release of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 a few months after the S9 and S9 Plus, around late August of 2018.
4. Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL
Google amazed everyone in 2017 by removing the headphone jack in the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. After the negative reactions Apple got from removing the headphone jack in the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, nobody expected Google to follow in their footsteps. But in the name of “technological advancements”, Google decides to free up some space and force users to use a bigger than Apple’s dongle to connect a wired headset.
Nevertheless, the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL were both great devices. They really took the Google standard to a whole new level. Not only did the Google smartphones of 2017 have great cameras, better Android integration and an upgraded Google Assistant experience, they also gave smartphones users a real alternative to the common Android brands.
The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL could be out as soon as October 2018 with a price tag around $600+ for the standard device.

5. Nokia 9
Nokia is not really Nokia anymore, but the company which now has control of it is really looking to make it into the big player that it once was in the world of smartphones. There are so many highly anticipated smartphones of 2018 and for us, the Nokia 9 is one of the top five for a few reasons.
For one, we are expecting Nokia to take a big step towards providing a true fighter. This could mean a brand new unibody metal design, higher end camera and precise integration of Android’s latest version.
Tons of sources were hoping that Nokia would launch it by the end of 2017, but with just a month to go, that doesn’t seem to be the case. We could see the Nokia 9 launching in February 2018 with a price tag of $600+.
