Apple is known to keep hefty margins. Year after year, the world’s leading smartphone maker manages to cut prices ever so slightly, while improving on the model previously rolled out and yet still keeping a large profit for itself. Well, today you might be in for a surprise as we discuss the actual manufacturing cost of Apple iPhone X.
We all would have loved a cheaper Apple iPhone X. Right? Who wouldn’t want an Apple iPhone X for the same price as the iPhone 7 Plus when it launched?
Unfortunately, Apple decided to take not only its latest smartphone, but the prices to a whole new level as well. This is the first ever Apple iPhone which costs $999 to start with, for 64 gigs of storage space. The 256 GB version is out for a whopping $1,149 right now. I’m only hoping that Apple decides to put on the brakes with this sort of pricing or we could be close to $1,500-2,000 smartphones in the next couple of years.

Actual Cost of Apple iPhone X/How Much Does the Apple iPhone X Really Cost to Make?
You would kill me if I told you. It hurts to say it and most of you who have already landed your hands on a brand new Apple iPhone X will hate me even more. According to data from research firm TechInsights, the actual cost of Apple iPhone X is just $357.50.
Ok, let that sink in for a while.
You’re paying almost $600 on top as profit to Apple, for an iPhone X that costs less than half of its retail price to make. This has to be criminal, doesn’t it?
Reuters even pointed out the profit margin on the Apple iPhone X being higher than that of the iPhone 8. In all fairness, the cost of Apple iPhone X is about 25% higher than that of the iPhone 8. Which means that Apple is keeping quite a bit of money to itself on the iPhone 8 and 8 plus as well.
At the end of the day, Apple is going to be taking a fantastic 64% profit on the Apple iPhone X and there’s really nothing we can do about it.

Apple Has and Always Will Be the Premium Smartphone
There are plenty of options out there. If Apple’s pricing policies are against your ethics and morals, than it is easy to say that you have plenty of options to choose from. The only thing is that Apple is the exclusive smartphone manufacturer with iOS, so every other brand you choose to go with will most probably have Android on it.
In other words, if you don’t like the Apple pricing scheme, go with somebody else. But it is worth mentioning here that Samsung bumped up prices quite high with the Note 8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 series this year. This was surprising since people were expecting a little consumer love after the Note 7 started exploding everywhere.
Beyond the price of the iPhone X, Apple has really made an excellent smartphone. And just for old times’ sake, it’s also fun mentioning that the most expensive part on the iPhone X is the display, which costs less than $70 to make. So if you were about to head out and get yourself an Apple iPhone X, just don’t forget about all the other options you have. Make a decision based on your needs and what suits you best.
