When I started hearing about and saw a bunch of profiles myself on Tinder when swiping in Pakistan with “No Hookups”, “I’m Not Here for Hookups” or “Swipe Left if You’re Looking for Hookups”, as headlines, I knew that I would have to do a post about it.

As much as I would like to keep this post gender-neutral, I cannot go on without pointing out the fact that over 90% of the female profiles on Tinder Pakistan have a similar line in their bios. Frankly, what other reason would you be on Tinder for?

Like, Tinder is the worst platform to be on in Pakistan if you are not looking for hookups. Not only in Pakistan, basically anywhere you go around the world. Are you looking for deep, intellectual conversations from people you meet on Tinder Pakistan? Again, worst possible place ever for not looking for hookups.

Married People on Tinder Pakistan

Even more concerning and even hilarious about Tinder Pakistan users are profiles of married people on the app.

What are you even doing on Tinder in Pakistan?

What makes it even worse is when these people have pictures of their significant other, husband or wife in mostly all of their pics. Even pictures of their kids in most situations as well. Some girls/women choose to put up only pictures of their kids or nephews or wherever those children come from. What are you thinking will happen?

“Hooking Up” is out of the game altogether for such people, because no one would want to even swipe right on someone who has her husband in the first picture. People need to learn how to use Tinder in Pakistan. Either use it for what it’s meant for or just get off altogether. There are no in-betweens here people!

I’m sure your husband or wife are just thrilled that you’re using Tinder. What could be better, eh?

Is that too hard to understand? I hope not. Because that’s literally what Tinder’s mission statement is:

Swipe. Match. Chat. Date.

Still to difficult to understand?

How About Just a Relationship?

Ok, you have me there. There might be some chance that you may be just looking to kick off a relationship, no hookups, but just something small and see where it goes from there.

Problem is that the guys on Tinder Pakistan are not looking for that at all!

I don’t know how many times I can say it, but Tinder is probably the worst app to be using to find anything other than a short-lived fling or instant hookup. That’s what made it popular in the first place.

If that’s what you want, try being a little open and welcoming about it. Trust me, it’ll make your life a whole lot easier. Maybe you will even find a great guy in the process. Who knows?

I say this because you have to understand the terminology used in the app and the experience of Tinder. When you swipe left or right, you’re either crossing that person out or approving of him/her with a heart. Next, if that person ‘likes’ you back, then it’s considered a match. Not a match for friendship or just coffee or a discussion, a match as in ‘match’. Couldn’t be any clearer than that.

At the end of the day, Tinder is an app for people to be open, willing to try new things and actually respond after expressing interest in each other. It’s just the worst when you find out you have a match close by and the other person just doesn’t reply after that at all.

Did you like me just five minutes ago and now you hate me indefinitely? What should I be thinking? Come one, don’t leave me hanging.

Tinder isn’t as serious as the rest of life probably is, so don’t take things personally. Open up, be a little goofy and it’ll make your Tinder Pakistan experience much, much better. I promise.
